Backed by the EU’s Global Gateway initiative, the workshop focused on climate governance, field reporting and the social impacts of environmental change to strengthen evidence-based journalism in Sri Lanka.
Fifteen Tamil environmental journalists in Sri Lanka have received training on climate change and green transition reporting as part of an initiative to strengthen field-based and human-centred environmental journalism in the country.
The training was conducted through a workshop titled ‘Green Transition Reporting’, where journalist and trainer Arul Karki served as a trainer. The workshop focused on sharing field experiences, research insights on climate governance, and the socio-environmental impacts of climate change.
The initiative aimed to equip a new generation of journalists with the skills to produce in-depth, evidence-based reports that highlight the human stories behind climate change and the green transition.
The workshop was jointly organised by Expertise France, CFI Media Development, and the Sri Lanka Press Institute (SLPI), with financial support from the European Union’s (EU) Global Gateway initiative.
Arul Karki expressed gratitude to the partner organisations for facilitating the initiative and providing a platform to strengthen environmental journalism in Sri Lanka.
