A Boeing B-727-200-F aircraft of Aero Lanka Tours has reportedly been seized by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) over unpaid dues exceeding Rs. 280 million owed to the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake.

According to the CAASL, the aircraft had defaulted on payments amounting to Rs. 284,473,729.10 as of March 20, 2026, in relation to landing and parking charges at BIA.

The Authority has taken steps to detain the aircraft under Section 101 of the Civil Aviation Act No. 14 of 2010.

Under the same provisions, the CAASL also holds the legal power to sell the aircraft if the outstanding payments are not settled.

The Boeing aircraft will remain under the custody of the CAASL until all outstanding dues, related costs, detention expenses, storage charges, administrative fees, and legal costs are fully recovered.

Accordingly, a final notice has reportedly been issued to the relevant company requesting full settlement of the outstanding amount.
