Dayasiri sings Vas Kavi in Parliament Daily Mirror - Sri Lanka

By Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana

Colombo, Oct. 23 (Daily Mirror) - Opposition MP Dayasiri Jayasekara created a dramatic scene in Parliament by singing a Vas Kaviya (a traditional plea seeking divine intervention to punish wrongdoers).

He alleged that there was a move to arrest those who wrote and sang a Vas Kaviya that is being circulated on social media.

“Those in the Government are afraid of Vas Kavi,” he said before beginning to sing.

No power in sight so he resorted to sing vaskavi hoping that it might give some opening to get power

We know you are part of the bankrupt team, this team only knows to do this kind of stuff in crowded ways. If you think you know better politics, you will be doing good things to win the hearts of public, instead of doing such cheap things. If you all still think a song can do such wonders then Sri Lanka should be super power in the world right now. Why waged war for 30 years, one kaviya would have stopped the war. How backward this society is in this century.
