After escaping a dramatic run-out chance, Dhruv Jurel celebrated his second Test century in style in Colombo by revealing a "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisaan" tattoo on his left bicep by drawing up his sleeve.

After the failed direct hit gave Jurel his hundred, Mohammed Siraj rushed over to embrace the India wicketkeeper-batter, who had spent 22 deliveries on 99 before finally crossing the finish line.

Before revealing the tattoo, Jurel punched the air, took off his helmet, and took in the cheers. Siraj was waiting on the other end. The fast bowler had stuck with Jurel, blocking and defending as his partner approached the milestone, even though India was eight wickets down. Siraj was among the first to congratulate Jurel after the two gave each other a hearty embrace.

When Jurel was on 99, he narrowly avoided being run out to complete his second Test century in spectacular fashion. Jurel drove hard toward mid-off after Asitha Fernando bowled full around off and called for a fast single.

Jurel had an opportunity to steal the run when the ball bounced awkwardly off the pitch, but the fielder moved fast, swooped in, and threw at the stumps. Jurel reached his second Test hundred after needing a full-length dive to gain ground, but the direct hit never materialized.

As India crossed 500, Jurel raced to 115 off 177 balls, Gill declared the innings at 503/9. As the second centurion of India's innings, Jurel was unbeaten at the declaration.

The 24-year-old arrived at the crease with India at 296/5 late on the first day, and it was the pinnacle of a superb lower-order effort. The first truly nervous moment for Jurel during the innings came when Prabath Jayasuriya hit his bat with an arm ball and called for lbw. After the appeal was turned down, Jurel went on.

After that, he added 112 runs with Rishabh Pant, who scored 63. Before Jurel continued to work with the lower order and pushed the team's total past 460, the stand helped India surpass 400.

With his century in Colombo, he now has back-to-back 50-plus innings in the series after making a match-winning 51 off 68 balls in India's triumph in the first Test.

Jurel now has more over 600 runs in the format at an average of more than 35 from 12 Tests thanks to his second Test century. He has two fifties under his belt and scored his first Test century against the West Indies last year.

Jurel's two away Test scores of 50 or above occurred during this series. Jurel was likewise included to an elite list by the hundred. After Hardik Pandya, who scored 108 at Pallekele in 2017, he became just the second Indian batsman to reach a Test century while batting at No. 7 or below in Sri Lanka. first published: Aug 24, 2026 06:52 pm Top Trends CSK IPL 2026 schedule LSG IPL Team 2026 PBKS Team list 2026 DC IPL Team 2026 RR IPL Team 2026
