The ‘Senter Music Festival’, billed as Sri Lanka’s premier multi-genre music event, will be held at the Port City, Colombo, on October 30 and 31. French DJ and music producer DJ Snake will headline the second night. The two-day festival aims to combine international festival standards with local tradition, putting global names and home-grown talent on the same stage.
Day one will be devoted to Sri Lanka’s own music scene. The lineup includes BNS (Bathiya and Santhush), Wasthi, ADK, Romaine Willis, Shermaine Willis, DKM, Stompers and Sandaru x Anjalee. They will be joined by Dany Neville, DJ Gowtham, Bad Barbie, Umar x Vifak, Renato, Jaz, DCR Milda, XIX XIX and Blastronick.
On October 31, DJ Snake will perform in Sri Lanka for the first time. The multi-platinum producer is known for hits such as ‘Lean On’, ‘Taki Taki’ and ‘Turn Down for What’. He will lead the main bandstand show, supported by regional and international DJs including DJ Mass, Juppe, Ishan x Binu, Krys Theory, Shey x Azex, Flecan x Chihiro, Ze Silva x Aeron Draid and Yoshiko.
‘Our mission with Senter Music Festival is to introduce true Sri Lankan hospitality to the world while delivering a full-scale, international festival experience’ said Addam Maleq of LFG Global Entertainment, the producers of the event. ‘From showcasing top-tier global acts like DJ Snake to lifting up our own local stars and unearthing new talent across the island, Senter is built to unite people through music’.
The festival also has the backing of Sri Lanka Tourism. Chaminda Munasinghe, Assistant Director- International Media at the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, said the collaboration ‘directly supports the overall destination promotional strategy of Sri Lanka Tourism, positioning our island as a recognized destination for entertainment’. He added that it would build traveller trust and ultimately increase tourism revenue by attracting more visitors.
Ahead of the event, organisers have been holding the Home-Grown DJ Championship in regions across the island. Aspiring DJs get the chance to showcase their skills and gain mentorship, and the winner will perform on the Senter stage.
Senter Records CEO and Founder Mass Ramli said the festival was part of a wider effort. ‘Our vision has always been to build a creative ecosystem that benefits Sri Lanka, not just one event’ he said. ‘We need to give young creatives, DJs and musicians access to knowledge, equipment, stages and industry connections’.
Festival-goers can expect art installations, sound and lighting production, local food and a cosplay competition with prizes, open to fans and creators from across the region. The festival will be fully cashless, using NFC technology and RFID tags.
Buddhi Wickramanayake, CEO of MBC Networks, the strategic partner, called the festival ‘a historic moment for live entertainment in Sri Lanka’. ‘As the nation’s premier broadcasting network, this collaboration underscores our vision to deliver world-class cultural experiences and set a new benchmark for youth entertainment across the region’ he said.
Tickets are available on the festival’s official ticketing page.
