Colombo, Jan. 14 (Daily Mirror) - The recent acquisition of a rare Rolls-Royce Phantom Centenary Edition by Sri Lankan businessman Dudley Sirisena has drawn attention not only for the vehicle’s exclusivity, but also for the long entrepreneurial journey behind it.

According to Sirisena, the luxury vehicle is one of only 25 Phantom Centenary Edition models produced worldwide to mark the 100th anniversary of the Rolls-Royce brand. He shared details of the car in a social media post, describing it as a fully upgraded special edition created to celebrate the marque’s centenary.

However, Sirisena used the moment to reflect on his personal business story rather than focusing solely on luxury. He revealed that he began his entrepreneurial journey nearly 40 years ago, starting with the purchase of his first lorry after pawning his wife’s jewellery due to financial hardship.

He said the achievement of owning one of the world’s rarest luxury vehicles represents decades of persistence, sacrifice and determination, adding that the milestone is a source of pride for Polonnaruwa and Sri Lanka as well as for those who supported him along the way.

Sirisena also used the occasion to encourage young entrepreneurs, urging them to remain committed to their goals despite challenges, and highlighting resilience and long-term effort as key factors in achieving success.

The Rolls-Royce Phantom Centenary Edition is regarded as one of the most exclusive versions of the Phantom, blending bespoke craftsmanship with the heritage of the British luxury car manufacturer.

Make Sri Lanka great again!!! Wednesday, 14 January 2026 12:24 PM

We must appreciate the entrepreneurial spirit of this man. What we, as Sri Lankans, lack is this trait. Many people are driven by the desire to get handouts, rations, subsidies, etc. or to become rich overnight. Further, we are good at preaching others and boast about the 2,500 year old written history and more than 10,000 years of unwritten history. Moreover, for the past five decades, Marxist-led unions and political parties have fomented hatred, envy and jealousy against businesspeople and professionals. All what they wanted was to kill the businesses and take them under state control, which we all know is a gross failure. Well done, Mr Sirisena!!! This country needs more people like you and not ones who shout catchy slogans on political platforms (e.g. reducing VAT to zero, bringing back the foreign money from Uganda, etc.)!!!

How many workers who helped him to achive these hights, cannot afford even a push-cycle and a cat?

What luxury for his dogs. They appear to travel and or relax in the worlds' most expensive car. Lucky doggies

Congratulations Mr Sirisena, we are happy for you and also proud to have a persevering Sri Lankan like you yet in Sri Lanka. Your investments into modernising rice milling in Sri Lanka too should be applauded. Likewise be the leader that will further automate rice production in Sri Lanka by introducing more and more technology including AI using apparatus, into the rice supply chain in Sri Lanka. We need risk taking entrepreneurs to take the leap with automating paddy cultivation and rice distribution.

So many citizens are in hunger and a roof above their head, why not do charity than pride only for this world.

this is absolute lunacy. A collosal waste of funds. Just do not know what to do with excess money. Whom is Dudley Sirisena attempting to impress? Disgusting to say the least. Whether riding a push cycle or riding in a bullock cart, Dudley Sirisena will be Dudley Sirisena. Lost in an aimless world of luxury with no values. entrepreneurial spirit is one thing, a head to put money into better use is another. Attempting to drive onto the Presidential seat in a RollsRoyce? I am not envy of him or jealous of him. But this shows how hollow this man is.
