Legendary Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has officially announced his retirement from all formats of international cricket on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
Speaking on The Final Word podcast, the 38-year-old explosive batter confirmed his decision to step away from international cricket as well as Victoria’s domestic 50-over and four-day red-ball setups. The announcement marks the end of a decorated career that featured pivotal roles in Australia's 2015 and 2023 ODI World Cup victories.
"I'm going to be announcing my retirement from international cricket... It's probably a time where I probably need to spend a little more time investing in the body to make sure I can get through the remaining couple of tournaments I've got in my career," Maxwell stated.
While Maxwell acknowledged early hopes for a farewell appearance at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), he expressed understanding regarding national selectors transitioning toward younger talent. He will continue playing franchise cricket, remaining active for the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League (BBL).
