Heavy traffic is reported in areas surrounding Parliament and the Polduwa Junction in Battaramulla, following a protest organised by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB).
The SJB had commenced the protest demonstration at 9.00 a.m. today (Sep. 24) at the Polduwa Junction.
SJB General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara said the demonstration is being held in opposition to the proposed 22nd Amendment, which the party claims could pave the way for an authoritarian path.
He also called on the public to join the protest.
Meanwhile, the Parliament debate on the 22nd Constitutional Amendment Bill is to be held today and tomorrow before the vote.
