With the 90s being the scoreline Rohit Sharma has the hardest time surpassing, here's a look at how many times the Hitman has been dismissed for the 90s in his career across international cricket and the IPL.

Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 92 in the third ODI against the West Indies at New Chandigarh, eight runs short of another hundred. The match was still in progress at the time of writing. It came three days after his 101 at Guwahati, a reminder of how thin the margin can be.

It was the eighth time Rohit has been dismissed in the nineties across international cricket and the IPL. Seven came for India, five in ODIs and two in T20Is, while the IPL has added one more. He has never fallen in the nineties in a Test match.

Set against 52 international hundreds and two IPL centuries, that is a striking number of near misses. Rohit has also finished unbeaten on 90 in an ODI and on 98 in the IPL. Here is every dismissal in date order, followed by a breakdown across Tests, ODIs, T20Is and the IPL.

Rohit has been dismissed between 90 and 99 on eight occasions across all formats and the IPL. The full list, in date order, is set out in the table below. His 99 against Australia at Sydney in January 2016 remains the closest he has been dismissed to a hundred.

Beyond these dismissals, Rohit also finished unbeaten on 90 in an ODI against West Indies at Visakhapatnam in December 2011. He was left stranded on 98 not out against the Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in the IPL in April 2015.

Rohit has seven dismissals in the nineties for India. Five came in ODIs and two in T20Is, with none in Tests. That split broadly follows the number of matches he has played, with 291 ODIs, 159 T20Is and 67 Tests, according to ESPNcricinfo's Statsguru. Here is each format in turn.

Rohit has never been dismissed in the nineties in a Test, according to Statsguru. His highest Test score short of a hundred is 83, made against England at Lord's in August 2021. He has no score between 84 and 99 across 67 Tests between 2013 and 2024.

Every time Rohit has passed 90 in a Test, he has gone on to reach a hundred. He has made 12 Test hundreds, with a best of 212 against South Africa in Ranchi in 2019. His first Test hundred was 177 on debut at Eden Gardens in 2013, and his last was 103 at Dharamsala in 2024.

ODIs account for five of Rohit's seven international dismissals in the nineties. The first came at Ahmedabad in December 2011, when he made 95 against the West Indies at home. That innings followed 72 at Cuttack and an unbeaten 90 at Visakhapatnam in the same five-match series.

The nearest miss was a 99 against Australia at Sydney in January 2016, just one run short of a hundred. India still chased down 331 to win that match. A 91 followed against Pakistan at Birmingham in June 2017, and a 95 against Australia at Mohali in March 2019.

The Mohali innings came in a defeat, with Australia chasing down 359 and winning with 13 balls to spare. Rohit's latest entry is the 92 against the West Indies at New Chandigarh on October 3, 2026.

Rohit has been dismissed twice in the nineties in T20Is. The first was a 97 against Ireland at Dublin in June 2018, three runs short of a hundred. He made a duck in the next T20I against the same team two days later.

The second came in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Rohit made 92 against Australia at Gros Islet on June 24; in the Super 8 stage of a tournament, which India went on to win.

Rohit has been dismissed once in the nineties in the IPL. He made 94 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede Stadium on April 17, 2018. It came off 52 balls, with the Mumbai Indians batting first and Rohit at number four. He was caught by Woakes off Anderson's bowling.

Rohit also finished on 98 not out against the Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on April 8, 2015. He faced 65 balls and opened the batting. It is his highest unbeaten score in the IPL, short of a hundred. It came in the Mumbai Indians' opening match of the 2015 season.

The list could still grow before the 2027 World Cup. India will play five ODIs in New Zealand and three against Sri Lanka later this year, with three more against Zimbabwe at the start of 2027 and also a potential six-game series against South Africa.
