Inside Travel, the specialist operator behind InsideJapan and InsideAsia, has added Sri Lanka as it expands into Southern Asia and the subcontinent. Seven new InsideAsia itineraries are on sale now, developed over the past year by a programme manager who spent three years living on the island. Here's what's in the collection, and who each trip suits.
Sri Lanka has never wanted for drawcards. What it has often wanted is an operator with enough on the ground to get past the standard loop.
That is the gap InsideAsia is pitching into. The seven new itineraries are designed to showcase the depth, diversity and cultural richness of the island, while carrying the local connections and more immersive experiences the brand is known for across Asia.
The launch marks the next stage of Inside Travel’s expansion into Southern Asia and the subcontinent.
The programme has been built over the past year by Subcontinent Programme Manager Jess Andrews, who lived in Sri Lanka for three years and previously developed programmes for Ampersand and Abercrombie & Kent.
“We are so excited to be able to offer Sri Lanka as our latest destination. It is a place that has an incredible amount of depth and variety for its size, and one that continues to spark the imagination of travellers,” said Andrews.
“Being able to draw on my own experience of living in Sri Lanka, combined with the local relationships we have developed, means we can create trips that go beyond the traditional highlights and offer travellers genuine cultural connection and a different perspective on the destination.”
Four of the seven from InsideAsia give you the clearest read on the range.
There is also a few days in the Maldives available on the end of any of them, for the client who wants to finish flat on a sun lounger. It is an extension to a Sri Lanka trip rather than a standalone booking, which makes it a straightforward upsell on an itinerary your client has already agreed to.
The pitch for advisors is how much ground a single trip covers.
“You can move from tea-covered hills to tropical coastline, from ancient heritage sites to wildlife reserves, all within the same journey. It offers exactly the sort of cultural depth and local connection that our travellers are looking for and that our agents know us for,” Andrews said.
She is also clear that this is a first release rather than a finished range.
“These trips are just tasters of what we can do and a starting point for us. There is lots more to come as we continue to develop the destination and strengthen our connections across Sri Lanka,” Andrews said.
Inside Travel Co-founder and Director Alastair Donnelly describes the destination as a natural progression for the business.
“We are very excited to be able to add Sri Lanka to the Inside Travel map,” said Donnelly. “Sri Lanka was the logical next step for development, and we know our clients want to experience it,” Donnelly said.
“As a B Corp and a company committed to ‘travel as a force for good’, our team is also developing special experiences and initiatives aligned with the Undertourism work we have pioneered across some of our other destinations. This means working with local communities to create positive impact for both local people and travellers.”
That Undertourism work is the part worth filing away for the client who has started asking where not to go. Inside Travel recently published its latest Impact Report, setting out the results of the initiative and its ongoing work to create positive outcomes for local communities and destinations.
More is coming. “We are looking forward to making further announcements as we close out 2026, but this is just the beginning of our plans for Sri Lanka. There is so much more to explore and develop across the destination,” Donnelly said.
The new InsideAsia Sri Lanka itineraries are available now, with further experiences and programmes to be added as InsideAsia continues to expand its local network and product offering.
