Measures are being taken to identify existing shortcomings and improve the LMT Go mobile application used by Metro Bus passengers to provide a more convenient, reliable and efficient digital service; Ministry Of Transport, Highways & Urban Development, has announced. A special discussion on the matter was held yesterday (Nov. 04) at the Ministry of Transport under the patronage of Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways Dr. Prasanna Gunasena.

The discussion focused on addressing existing issues and upgrading the application’s features based on feedback, practical experiences and suggestions from passengers. Operational insights from Metro Bus staff and technical input from service providers were also considered in identifying areas for improvement. The Metro Bus service, initially launched as a pilot project with 10 buses operating on two routes, has now expanded to 122 buses operating across 07 routes, covering all three districts of the Western Province. Plans are underway to add another 50 buses to the fleet in 2027, while future expansion of the service to Kandy, Jaffna and Galle is also being planned. The initiative aims to improve the quality of public transport by incorporating passenger feedback and combining technology with practical operational experience to make the service more user-friendly and efficient.
