Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB) has celebrated Bangladeshi squash player Parvez Karim's victory in the boys' under-19 Super Plate competition at the Colombo Junior Squash Open 2026, part of the Asian Junior Super Series.
Parvez, an athlete of Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP), defeated Sri Lanka's Weerakkody 3–1 (11–5, 11–8, 9–11, 11–7) in the Super Plate final to secure the title, according to a press release.
The tournament was held in Sri Lanka from 24 to 28 October, 2026.
In an all-Bangladeshi Super Plate semi-final, Parvez edged past fellow BKSP athlete Md Saimoon Islam 3–2 (11–8, 12–14, 12–10, 4–11, 11–8). The five-game contest preceded his victory in the final.
Both Parvez and Saimoon participated in the tournament with support from MTB. The bank said its support reflected its commitment to helping promising young athletes compete internationally across different sporting disciplines.
Expressing their gratitude, the athletes said MTB's confidence in young talent had enabled them to compete against leading international players and bring pride to Bangladesh.
In a statement, MTB said, "We are thrilled to see Parvez Karim bring home the title and Saimoon Islam display such incredible fighting spirit on an international stage. The passion and determination were entirely theirs, and MTB is deeply honoured to have supported their journey.
"Supporting young BKSP talents like Parvez and Saimoon reflects our ongoing commitment to nurturing the future of sports in Bangladesh and empowering the next generation of champions."
