Earlier, the Sri Lankan team celebrated their 2-1 T20I series win by tapping on the watch, which was a direct dig at the much-talked-about incident from the World Cup, but the Bangla Tigers had their revenge. However, with the 2-match Test series, starting from March 22, it will be interesting to see who will have the last laugh in this iconic rivalry.Â

A bizarre incident unfolded during the World Cup match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Mathews became the first player to be dismissed timed out in the history of the sport. Mathews couldn't take the field in the stipulated time period due to his faulty helmet strap. The Bangladesh team captain, Shakib-al-Hasan, made full use of the situation and appealed for the wicket of Mathews. As per the rules of the game, the Sri Lankan all-rounder returned to the pavilion without facing a single delivery.Â

The series decider between the two teams saw Sri Lanka setting a target of 236 runs for the Bangladesh team. Tanzid Khan, who came in as a concussion substitute for Soumya Sarkar, played a stellar knock of 84 runs from 81 balls.  The hosts chased down the target comfortably and managed a win by 4 wickets.   - Ends Also Read | IPL 2024: Rohit Sharma joins Mumbai Indians camp ahead of season
