Hindu Munnani Myanmar has expressed appreciation to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the Sri Lankan government for their efforts in securing the overturning of the death sentence imposed on Sri Lankan national Anojan Sivarasa in Saudi Arabia.

According to the Sri Lankan Embassy in Myanmar, the organisation presented a letter of appreciation and a Deepavali gift package addressed to the President in recognition of the government’s diplomatic and humanitarian efforts.

The letter and gift package were handed over to Sri Lankan Ambassador to Myanmar Prabashini Ponnamperuma at the Embassy in Yangon on October 21.

The delegation included Hindu Munnani Myanmar General Secretary Kyaw Naing Oo, Patrons Kyi Soe and Kyaw Min, Chairman Naing Win Tun, and Officers-in-Charge Than Than Soe and Mon Mon San.

During the meeting, the representatives commended the Sri Lankan government’s diplomatic engagement in securing the overturning of Sivarasa’s death sentence.

They also praised the humanitarian approach taken by the government, stating that the efforts transcended religious and ethnic boundaries and reflected values of compassion and solidarity.

The Sri Lankan Embassy in Yangon expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a reflection of goodwill and solidarity towards Sri Lanka from the Myanmar community. (Newswire)
