Iran rejects the US claim that energy is being freely transported out of the Strait of Hormuz. The foreign ministry spokesman says the US itself is resorting to other countries for supplies of fuel and this clearly shows the strait is closed. Esmaeil Baqaei also rejected the US allegations that Iran has lost its leverage in the key waterway. He said in his weekly presser that the claim is not convincing the markets as it contradicts facts on the ground. The spokesman added that Iran never wanted to use the strait as leverage, stressing that the insecurity due to the US-Israeli aggression created the problem. Baqaei also talked about the 7-day proposals Iran tabled at the UN general assembly. He said the proposals are those inserted in the understanding previously agreed with the US. The spokesman said removal of the naval blockade and all anti-Iran sanctions and ending the war on all fronts are part of Iran’s demands in the proposals.

A US federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to immediately stop airing taxpayer-funded television ads promoting President Donald Trump. According to the judge, the ads, funded with millions of dollars in taxpayer money, amounted to political promotion that could benefit Republican candidates ahead of the midterm elections. The ads began airing in late September and drew criticism from both Democrats and Republicans. They feature Trump promoting his policies and warning against communism and what he calls a “final battle” against “globalists.” Each ad ends with a disclaimer stating that it was paid for by the US government. The Department of Homeland Security spent around 20 million dollars in taxpayer funds on the campaign.
