The Sri Lanka Navy today (28) bid a ceremonial farewell to Rear Admiral Kosala Warnakulasooriya, who retired after completing 33 years of distinguished service.
The farewell ceremony was attended by Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Damian Fernando and members of the Navy's Board of Management, who extended their best wishes to the retiring officer, who also celebrated his 55th birthday on the same day.
In keeping with naval tradition, Rear Admiral Warnakulasooriya was honoured with a Guard of Honour before fellow naval officers formally bade him farewell. He was then escorted from the naval premises in a ceremonial motorcade amid the cheers of Navy personnel.
Rear Admiral Warnakulasooriya joined the Sri Lanka Navy in 1992 as an Officer Cadet of the 10th intake of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy. During his 33-year career, he held several key command appointments on naval ships, craft and shore establishments.
