Colombo, Oct 27 (Daily Mirror) - Anusha Lakmali, alias “Achini”, who was wanted under an Interpol Red Notice in connection with the Middeniya triple murder, has been arrested in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and brought to Sri Lanka, police said.
She is suspected of involvement in the killing of Aruna Vidanagamage, alias “Kajja”, 39, and his two children, who were shot dead near Kadewatta Junction in Middeniya in February 2025.
Investigations into the killings revealed that the shooting was allegedly carried out as a contract killing for Rs. 500,000, with part of the money reportedly traced to accounts linked to suspects involved in the plot.
Following the incident, Anusha Lakmali had fled the country, prompting authorities to seek international assistance to locate and arrest her through an Interpol Red Notice.
