Cabinet has agreed to proceed with arrangements for Sri Lanka to host the 19th congress of the World Federation of Trade Unions in Colombo from 13 to 15 May 2027.
Approximately 800 delegates representing trade unions from nearly 130 countries are expected to participate.
According to the Cabinet statement, the federation’s presidential council selected Sri Lanka as the host, taking into account the country’s active trade union movement and strategic location.
The Labour Minister informed Cabinet of the proposed hosting arrangements.
Cabinet agreed that the necessary preparations should proceed.
