Colombo (Sri Lanka) – Malayalam superstar Mohanlal received a grand welcome at the Sri Lankan Parliament during his current stay in the country. The actor is in Sri Lanka for a 10-day shoot of director Mahesh Narayanan’s upcoming untitled film. The film features a powerhouse cast, including Mammootty, Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, and Kunchacko Boban.

Mohanlal observed parliamentary proceedings from the public gallery. He was formally welcomed by Deputy Speaker Dr. Rizvie Salih, who introduced him to the house.

“On behalf of the Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka, I wish to welcome veteran Indian filmmaker and film actor, Padmasree, Padmabhushan Mohanlal Vishwanathan,” said Dr. Salih.

Several lawmakers greeted the actor during the session, making it a memorable moment.

Mohanlal later took to social media to share his experience. Posting photos from the visit, he wrote:

“Deeply honoured by the gracious welcome at the Parliament of Sri Lanka. It was a true privilege to meet Honourable Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne, Deputy Speaker Dr. Rizvie Salih, and my dear friend Ishantha Ratnayake.”

He also thanked the Sri Lankan government for the “warmth, generosity, and meaningful conversations.”

This high-profile visit comes as Mohanlal shoots for Mahesh Narayanan’s film. The film, still untitled, is one of the most anticipated pan-Indian projects.

It blends the talents of leading South Indian actors and aims to explore an intense, multilayered narrative. Sources hint that the film might feature sequences inspired by this real-life political visit.

Photos from the visit went viral, showing Mohanlal interacting with lawmakers and waving to the crowd from the gallery. Press photographers captured him acknowledging well-wishers with his signature humility.

The visit underscores Mohanlal’s cross-border popularity and the respect he commands beyond India’s borders.

The superstar will continue filming in Sri Lanka for the next few days. The production team has kept plot details under wraps, but expectations are sky-high due to the film’s star-studded ensemble and director Mahesh Narayanan’s track record.
