Jamie Overton got trolled on social media after conceding 77 runs in 10 overs.
Overton came up with the perfect response to online trolling.
The day started on a bright note for the English after a disappointing loss against Pakistan earlier, as the former world champions posted a massive total of 429 runs, riding on captain Harry Brook's brilliant double century.
Brook completed his double ton in only 114 balls, which made him the fastest to reach the milestone in ODI cricket history. In the process, Brook broke the record, which was earlier held by India captain Shubman Gill.
The chase began badly, with Sri Lanka slipping to 24-2. A stand of 166 for the third wicket between Avishka Fernando (97) and Pavan Rathnayake then gave the visitors hope, and Rathnayake reached a century off 87 balls before putting on another big partnership with Dasun Shanaka.
Rathnayake was out for 130, but Shanaka kept the pressure on England with eight sixes in his 97 off 50 balls. Janith Liyanage then hit a 22-ball fifty, which left Sri Lanka needing eight runs from the final over.
England briefly turned things around when Josh Tongue bowled Dunith Wellalage and Eshan Malinga on successive deliveries. Liyanage, however, hit a six off the penultimate ball to seal a famous victory. England's second straight loss is a setback in their bid to reach the final on October 31.

The defeat was difficult to swallow not just for England players but for their fans as well. English cricket fans were understandably furious with the nightmare performance as their bowlers failed to defend 429 runs.
Except for Gus Atkinson, almost all England bowlers conceded more than 70 runs in their quota of 10 overs. Sam Curran turned out to be the worst of the lot, leaking 103 runs in 9 overs.
Jamie Overton also went expensive as he conceded 77 runs in 10 overs and picked up just one wicket. Overton's performance drew criticism from fans, with one fan sarcastically trolling the bowler.
He wrote on X, "Good to see @JamieOverton is showing why he's picked again. #joke."
Overton, however, won over fans on social media with a cheeky response to the online trolling as the cricketer wrote in reply, "Thanks Dan."
The reply even got applauded by the fan, who had trolled the cricketer, as he then replied, "No worries mate. Always next game."
