Colombo, Nov. 3 (Daily Mirror) - Two spillway gates of the Rajangana Reservoir have been opened by three feet each due to the prevailing rainy weather conditions and increased water inflows, the Irrigation Department announced.

As a result, water is being released into the Kala Oya at a rate exceeding 1,600 cubic feet per second.

The Director of Irrigation (Water Management) advised residents living along the banks of the Kala Oya downstream from the reservoir to remain vigilant about fluctuations in water levels.

Residents have also been urged to pay close attention to announcements issued by the Irrigation Department and disaster management authorities regarding changes in the opening of the spillway gates.
