Rohit Sharma is set to return to domestic cricket this winter, with the India star having informed Mumbai that he will turn out in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in December.
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has already been given the message, although the number of games he will play is still to be decided.
According to The Indian Expres s, Rohit will link up with the squad only after India's home ODI series against Sri Lanka, which runs from December 13 to 19. The three matches will be held in Delhi, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad, and the first of them takes place a day before the domestic tournament begins.
A source in the MCA explained that the player has asked to be considered available once the Sri Lanka series is over, and that he will pass on the exact number of matches at a later date.

Yes, according to the information that has reached the MCA, though only for part of the competition. The batter has said he will represent Mumbai, and he will come in after the home series against Sri Lanka rather than at the start.
"He has informed us that he will be playing for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and to consider him available after India's three-ODI series against Sri Lanka at home," an MCA source told the Indian Express.
"How many matches he will be available for, he will inform us later."
Rohit is likely to play four matches squeezed within eight days. The Zimbabwe ODI series begins on January 3, so his last game could be against Haryana on December 29.
The tournament will be held from December 14, 2026 to January 8, 2027. The league stage runs from December 14 to 29, and the knockouts follow from January 2 to 8.
The league games will be hosted in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Ranchi and Rajkot, with Visakhapatnam staging the knockouts.
An exact start time for Mumbai's matches has not been released yet. Games in recent editions have usually begun at 9 AM IST, and it is likely that the start time could stay the same.
Last season, Rohit made himself available for Mumbai and played two games in Jaipur, his first in the tournament since 2018.
He hit 155 off 94 balls against Sikkim in the opener, but was out for a golden duck against Uttarakhand two days later. He had played 18 matches for Mumbai in the competition before that.
