The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry has put forward a package to increase business activity between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, The Express Tribune reported on October 31, 2026. Its proposals include sending trade delegations to each country, holding separate national exhibitions and opening business outlets in the other market. Sri Lankan High Commissioner Fred Senevirathne welcomed stronger commercial engagement and urged Pakistani businesspeople to explore opportunities in Sri Lanka.
LCCI President Ali Hussam Asghar said the countries’ longstanding relationship could support wider trade, investment and partnerships. He pointed to Lahore’s contribution to Pakistan’s exports and said closer business contacts could help companies find partners and identify opportunities in both markets. The chamber also called for stronger links between business chambers and sustained exchanges to develop commercial cooperation.
The proposals concern bilateral trade and potential market access for Pakistani exporters and investors.
