The Indian women's team appear favourites to defend the gold medal when they lock horns with Sri Lanka in the women's cricket final at Asian Games 2026. However, more than the match, who will hand over the medals has dominated discussions among fans online.
Many anticipated Mohsin Naqvi, the controversial Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief, to do the honours, but a report by RevSportz confirmed that won't be the case. Medal at the Women’s T20 cricket Asian Games will be handed over by Vinod Kumar Tiwari (OCA) member, Shiva Keshavan (Winter Olympian-India), Tayyab Ikram (International hockey president-Pakistan).

Recently at the Asia Cup in Dubai, the women's team had refused to collect the trophy from Naqvi , who is also the head of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and an interior minister in the country. The decision by Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. was similar to what the men's team had done last year in the same competition.
Meanwhile, India's undisputed continental supremacy is expected to remain intact, but a spirited Sri Lanka would aim to present a strong challenge. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side comes into the final on the back of two commanding wins over Japan and Bangladesh.
With a gold on Tuesday, India would extend their supremacy in the region after outplaying Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final earlier this month. Sri Lanka have beaten India in the past but the gulf between India and the other Asian team has only increased in recent past.
